Future Plans
The Management Committee and staff are presently putting together a
Development plan for the next three years. This is with a view to
expanding our existing premises and employing an outreach community
relations worker to enable us to engage more effectively in long-term
capacity building work within the local community. The aim is to be more
effective in contributing to sustainable peace. We recognize that we
provide an ideal neutral, residential resource in this locality and by
working in partnership with other organisations in the area, we can
contribute to building relationships and healing the divisions between
people.
We will also continue to develop our Community Allotment Scheme. The aim
of this project is the creation of a small number of allotments for the
use of 'disadvantaged' groups in the area with the overall aim of
promoting health and well being. This should then be 'handed over' to the
interest groups in the local area who will maintain and manage the
allotments themselves.
As well as the major plans ahead, we will still continue to provide a
welcoming venue for the many groups who visit for discussion, work and
recreation. At Kilcranny House we provide an international dimension with
our international volunteers and yearly cultural exchange programmes,
which add a wider perspective to our work. Our schools and youth
programmes will also remain a major aspect of our work and continue to be
developed, as our young people are our future.
The next few years ahead will be very challenging and uncertain, both in
terms of funding difficulties and the changes in the political
environment. However, Kilcranny House will rise to meet these challenges
and uncertainties and, as a centre offering a holistic vision of
non-violence, we know we have a real role to play in the future of the
'peace process'.
