WHO CAN VOLUNTEER? Kilcranny House enjoys and benefits from the support
of a (very) wide variety of volunteers. They would usually fall into one of the
following categories: Residential VolunteersShort term = 1 to 6 months Medium term = 6 months to 1 year Long term = 1 to 2 years. Kilcranny House has been home to residential volunteers coming from many different countries including Spain, Germany, USA, Croatia, Canada, Italy and of course Northern Ireland. Often our international volunteers come through volunteering organisations such as Eirene in Germany or BVS in North America. On occasion they come as independents, applying directly to Kilcranny’s Volunteer Co-ordinator. Local Volunteers Local volunteers come from all different sections of the local community and support the work of the project in many different ways: gardening, cleaning, making jam, helping with programmes, providing guidance and support for staff. Some local volunteers offer help on a pre-planned weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis. Others help on an ad hoc basis as and when the opportunity arises, for example with events such as open days. WWOOFERS Wwoofers (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) must be members of the Wwoof Organisation. They normally stay for 1 to 3 weeks in the spring, summer or autumn. They work on the grounds and with the animals, occasionally helping out with other chores. Workcamps Organisations such as Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland and IVS. (International Voluntary Service) occasionally run residentials at the Centre. Applications to participate in “Natural Breaks” and similar working holidays are made directly to the named organisation. More Information: |
